Jeep Commander 4 inch SuperLift - Discontinued as of NOV 2021.

This is the largest lift available for a Jeep Commander and it's also a complete lift, with all components included which is refelcted in the price - around $2,300.00

Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac LT285/70/17's leads to the 4 inch superlift for Big Blue XK

I never thought I would be the guy who winds up upgrading to the 4 inch superlift, yet here I am. This is how I wound up at this cross-roads which all went down yesterday (Monday 10/22/2018);

This has been a somewhat trying day on many levels - but, as far as Big Blue goes, I found out that my front lower control arm bushings are toast, so, I'm getting a new set of Moog Front lower control arms installed.

The much bigger issue is with the LT285/70/17 Good Year Wrangler Duratracs I upgraded to; The tires are on, however even with the pinch weld mod and some trimming of the wheel tubs, the inner part of the door sills and removal of the front mud flaps; a large obstacle still remains;

There are Heater/AC lines on the rear of the front passengers wheel well that are causing a pretty significant problem; that being when the wheel is cut hard right, the tire hits those lines and if I turned the wheel hard while the vehicle was moving, there is a pretty good chance those lines would rip right out (especially if I'm trail-riding off road) and that could potentially cause a plethora of other problems that I don't need.

So, the bottom line is, these tires on my rims will not fit properly and do not allow normal drivability, with my current 2 inch RC Spacer Lift.

This is in part, due to the back-spacing of my current rims which is 4.5 inches; if I had another inch of back spacing (5.5 inches or so) I could have probably gotten away with it.

So there are only 2 options;

Put my P265/70/17 Toyo AT-II's back on and go home with my tail between my legs (Not an option at this point) or upgrade to the 4 inch Superlift.

So, as much as I was trying not to do it, I'll be sporting my LT285/70/17 Good Year Wrangler Duratracs with the 4 inch Superlift by Friday evening.

You know there will be loads of pics coming, probably Friday evening or Saturday.

I can't tell you how much it's costing me due to selective amnesia - and a massive headache....LOL.

Re: Jeep Commander 4 inch SuperLift.

I should be picking up the Super-lifted Big Blue with my new Good Year LT285/70/17 Duratracs either late this afternoon or sometime tomorrow. I swung by Southern Performance yesterday afternoon around lunch-time and she was already up on the rack with the wheels off being worked on.

 I'm pumped up!! Can't wait to see the finished product!!

UPDATE: Called them up about 3:45pm This (Thursday) afternoon, definitely looks like it will be Friday Late afternoon/evening before they're finished. Long drawn out sigh.....not real thrilled about going to pick it up in the flipping rain.....I may just leave it there until Saturday morning.

I talked to Southern Performance this afternoon; the only thing left to do is the alignment, and my Mechanic said the job has went very smooth to this point, however, the Electronic Geometry Recalibration (EGR) Module for Electronic Stability Program only shipped yesterday, why they did not ship it out with the rest of the kit I have no idea - as supposedly, they had it in stock at the time of the order.

Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow or Monday at the shop, at which point they can install it.

I really don't want to pick up Big Blue without that module installed because I will have to drive around with the ESP off without it; Not the end of the world, but, I'd rather not. So, hopefully Monday evening (10/29) - worst case scenario Tuesday (10/30), I'll be picking her up.

I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty irritated right now, but, there's not much I can do except sit & wait.

Well after 8 days of anxiety, here is the super-lifted Big Blue XK; My mechanic at Southern Performance in Virginia Beach said, this 4 inch Superlift with the larger LT285/70/17 Good Year Wrangler Duratracs (33 inch tires) is the equivalent of a 6 inch lift; I can tell you that it definitely looks & feels like it;

My initial impression is the Superlift was well worth the money, I also added Moog Front Lower control arms.

Here are some pics from underneath to give you a better idea of what all gets replaced and/or upgraded;

Re: Jeep Commander 4 inch SuperLift.

Well, after running the 4 inch Superlift with the LT285/70/17 Good Year Wrangler Duratracs for 5 months now, here are some observations;

I will tell you that I can feel the difference in the handling, meaning that my Commander now feels top heavy to me, much more so than before; I also have wider turning radius now, so, I have to allow more room when trying to make a U-Turn etc.

This also means that I have to be much more careful and deliberate when turning & braking; I can honestly say that I absolutely would not lift my Commander any higher than this.

That being said, the extra clearance and the quality of the new suspension components that came with the superlift, as well as the new Moog Lower control arms is awesome; I hit the trails now with supreme confidence in Big Blue's ability to handle anything that off-roading will throw at it.

Re: Jeep Commander 4 inch SuperLift.

So about 4 months ago, I heard rumors that the 4 inch Superlift for XK's & WK's was discontinued;

Out of disbelief & utter shock, I called Superlift directly myself and this is what I found out;

The story I was told is, some of their vendors, who manufacture the individual components for the 4 inch Superlift kit (The Electronic Geometry Recalibration module was specifically mentioned - possibly due to the Computer Chip Shortage, I keep hearing about) supposedly quadrupled their prices, virtually overnight and they were not willing to work with Superlift, to give them a more manageable cost for ordering components in bulk;

The end result was, the cost of the 4 inch Superlift for the WK & the XK became prohibitive, to the point where it was no longer profitable to sell them.

I asked if I had a component go bad, would I be able to get any replacement parts through them & he said essentially, the only parts they would probably still have in stock would be the rear shocks, which really doesn't matter - you could replace those shocks with any other shocks that had the correct specs.

The bottom line, for anybody out there like me, that has the 4 inch Superlift installed already is, if you have a catastrophic failure of any major component - or , if you're Superlift has a lot of miles on it and you want to freshen it up, you will probably wind-up going to a different lift kit, or just mixing & matching individual components of different manufacturers, to achieve the best end result you can come up with.

Superlift can no longer give us any kind of real support, for the 4 inch Superlift.

I think scouring e-bay, is probably your best shot at this point, to try & find what you're looking for relating to 4 inch Superlift components for a Commander.

And because they are going to be so hard to come by now, be prepared to pay a pretty good price for them if you do find them.

I think anybody wanting a lift comparable to the 4 inch Superlift now, will probably have to mix & match components from a couple of different companies to try & come up with the best end result that you can.

It's pretty disheartening for Commander & WK owners alike, that its come to this.
