Appcar DiagFCA OBD II Software to disable the TPM Sensor system.

So, I stumbled across this on another forum which was posted by a Commander Owner who lives in the UK - he was passed this link from a member of another UK Jeep Forum.

https://appcar-diagfca.com/en/

I've already downloaded the software and it seems legit from what I can tell so far:

Appcar DiagFCA is a professional Windows PC diagnostics program, specifically made for Chrysler, Dodge & Jeep Vehicles. The purchase includes free lifetime updates for the software. I pulled up Jeep Commanders and it says you can turn on/off the TPM Sensors with it - and gives you a lot of other nifty options that you can't do with Superchips Flashpaq F5 3874.

However, there are some other pieces to the puzzle:

First off, when you order the software, it asks you for your VIN number, so apparently the software will be coded and only usable on your specific vehicle, I assume so you can not pass it on to someone else, or try to resell it down the road.

2nd and more importantly - You need to order the proper ELM327 USB, OBD II cable for your laptop (If you don't already have one) so you're able to connect your PC/Laptop to your Commanders ECU/computer through the vehicle's diagnostics port, so that you're able to change/modify any settings that you want to.

This is where things get a little tricky, there are a lot of Chinese clones/knock-offs of this particular cable, these are the cheaper ones that usually range from around $11 - $14.00 and they will give you problems, from some of the nightmare reviews that I've read about them on Amazon and Google; After some reading & searching, I picked this one which will cost me about $48.00 with shipping - I think it was $39.00 before shipping, I just chose to ship it 1st class mail, so I would have tracking on it.

Here is a link to the ELM327 USB Cable that I ordered from Total Car Diagnostics ;

Along with how to install instructions:

http://www.totalcardiagnostics.com/support/Knowledgebase/Article/View/1/0/how-to-install-elm327-usb-cable-on-windows-and-obd2-software

 So now I'm almost $100.00 into this, but, I'm pretty sure this is the final piece of the puzzle.

I've already downloaded the Appcar DiagFCA software and it looks legit. However, I can't really go any further until I get home in November 2018 - which is about 2 1/2 months from now, but, I'll keep you posted on how it goes when the time comes.

Re: OBD II Software to disable the TPM Sensors.

Checking back in, just a quick post to let everyone know that it worked!!

I have successfully disabled my TPM sensor system, no more annoying orange light & no more chimes!!

And just to clarify - you are simply disabling the TPM sensor system - not completely removing it. You can always go back in and enable it again down the road, if you choose to.

The program did not work properly initially, mainly because I had the wrong COM Port selected in the initial program settings. The AppCar Diag FCA OBD2 software comes up on COM Port 1 by default & that was not the port my computer was utilizing for the ELM327 USB cable - it was using COM Port 4. At first I thought the ELM327 cable was broke until I downloaded the free EasyOBD test software & tested it and it passed the operational test with no issues.

It took me about 45 minutes of playing with the program to figure out the COM Port issue I had and there were also a couple of other things I had to do.

I'll tell you up-front, if you are not computer literate, don't even attempt this. The AppCar Diag FCA OBD2 software seems to be a very well written program that gives you far more detailed information & options then I ever expected to see - but it's definitely not the most user friendly program I've ever used and I was using it on a LAPTOP computer. I'm quite happy I didn't attempt this with a smart phone which probably would have made it even more difficult, due to the much smaller display.

Another thing that was confusing to me; The AppCar Diag FCA OBD2 software settings, in the diagnostic interface, right underneath the COM Port selection setting, had the baud rate set at 38400 by default - well the Serial COM/LPT ports on my laptop were set at 9600 by default; I thought that they would have to be set at the same baud rate/bits per second to communicate properly but that turned out not to be the case.

The default settings for each were correct; It was just the AppCar Diag FCA OBD2 software defaulting to COM Port 1 that screwed everything up; Once I changed the port settings on my Laptop from COM Port 1 to COM Port 4 and returned the Baud rates for each back to their default settings - 38400 for the AppCar Diag FCA OBD2 software & 9600 for the COM/LPT Ports on my Laptop, the program worked fine.

These were the hiccups I encountered using the AppCar Diag FCA OBD2 software and ELM327 cable for the first time. The instructions for each were adequate - but not very detailed at all, about these 2 particular issues that I ran into. Now that I have the settings ironed out and know how it works, it will be much easier to use in the future.

In any event, the Total Car Diagnostics ELM327 cable & the AppCar Diag FCA OBD2 software worked as designed. The total investment was about $90.00 for everything.

Appcar-DiagFCA Software Summary & Updated Links.

Appcar DiagFCA is a professional Windows PC diagnostics software program, specifically made for Chrysler, Dodge & Jeep Vehicles. The purchase includes free lifetime updates for the software. Here is a link to order the software;

https://appcar-diagfca.com/en/

For connecting to a vehicle we recommend the use of original ELM327 USB, OBDLink LX/SX or Vgate iCar2 bluetooth interfaces.

I used the ELM327 USB Cable that I ordered from Total Car Diagnostics; A link to order that is here;

https://www.totalcardiagnostics.com/elm327/

Along with how to install instructions:

http://www.totalcardiagnostics.com/support/Knowledgebase/Article/View/1/0/how-to-install-elm327-usb-cable-on-windows-and-obd2-software

Beware of cheap Chinese clones of the ELM327 cable - if you see one that's priced for $10-$15 it probably will not function properly; I've read a lot of reviews of people complaining that their much cheaper cable can not properly access the appcar-diagfca software. The ELM327 cable from Total Car Diagnostics works - I've used it myself with no issues; You can read more here;

https://www.totalcardiagnostics.com/elm327/

There are also Blue Tooth options if you don't want to deal with the USB cable;

Here is a ELM327 Bluetooth device.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T5G53ZM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1&tag=jeepcommanderconvert-20

It must be ELM327 compatible.

You will need a laptop with Bluetooth capabilities and Bluetooth must be turned on. If not you can purchase one of these.

It used to be that the software was coded specifically to your VIN and you could only use it on that VIN and it was $49.00 per download; Now they offer several different options which you can see below;

You purchase the software online from the link at the top of this thread and then download the software from a link which is emailed to you. It usually takes just a few minutes. They now offer 1, 2, 5 and unlimited use licenses, which is great for multiple jeep owners.

1 VIN $49
2 VINS $69
5 VINS $99
Unlimited VINS $299

Once you download the appcar-diagfca software, I'd recommend reviewing all of the information in the 2 links below before you try to use it;
