The three 4WD systems that Commanders are equipped with from least capable to most capable are: 1) Quadra-Trac I - Full time 4WD - NOT 4-LOW capable 2) Quadra-Trac II - 4WD - 4-LOW capable 3) Quadra-Drive II - 4WD - 4-LOW capable with ELSDs. (Electronic Limited Slip Differentials) Quadra-Trac I Commanders use the NV140 single speed transfer case. (4-HIGH only) QT-II & QD-II both use the same NV245 two speed transfer case. (4-HIGH & 4-LOW) The least capable of the three 4WD systems, which is the Quadra-Trac I system, is still adequate for what I would consider, normal every-day trail-riding, for camping, hiking trips etc. All 4WD capable Commanders, regardless of which 4WD system they have, also come with Traction Control & Electronic Stability Control as standard features. The 3 main power plants are 3.7L V-6, 4.7L V-8 and 5.7L V-8 Hemi. European models (XH) had the option of a 3.0L CRD diesel engine. There are a few 3.0L CRD Commanders in the U.S. but, they are extremely rare. I'll tell you up front, none of them, including the 3.7L V-6 are good on gas, you can expect 13-19 MPG Local/Hwy depending on the modifications and power-train, the Commander you buy has. Point being, don't buy a 3.7L V-6 Commander, thinking that you're going to get better fuel economy. You'll be disappointed. Ideally, a one owner Commander, with all the recalls completed and a clean Carfax report is a great start; In addition to this, I highly recommend that you do the following; Take a good long look underneath the vehicle, for any rust and signs of impact damage. Go to the website URL below and plug in the VIN of the XK you are looking at, to verify that all the factory re-calls and customer service campaigns have been completed: https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehicle/recalls/search.html Go the website URL below & plug in the VIN of the Commander you're looking at, to get your XK's factory build sheet; https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing The factory build sheet will tell you all of the options & factory equipment that your Commander had installed, when it was delivered from Jeep/Chrysler/FCA. You can order a factory owner's manual from the website url below, if your Commander didn't come with an owner's manual, when you bought it. https://www.mopar.com/jeep/en-us/my-garage/select-vehicle.html If everything is to your satisfaction at this point, take it for a test drive. If it drives well and you don't notice anything out of the ordinary, I'd take a shot & buy it. I hope you find this information helpful. Best of luck with your quest, to buy an XK!! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Big Blue XK)Fri, 06 Jan 2023 13:56:55 +0000
