Alabama Commander

Drove from Dothan, AL to Port Orange FL a few weeks ago to get our Commander. It's a 2006 Limited with 80000 original miles. Power is a 5.7 Hemi that had a new long block installed by the Jeep dealer at 72000 miles. QDII 4x4 system. Clean as a whistle underneath. I don't think it has ever seen a dirt road.

Everything is stock but I plan on doing some modifications. OME lift and JBA control arms as soon as I sell my '97 Cherokee. Pinch weld and bigger tires also. Front and rear bumpers have some dings and I may replace those with new plastic ones. Zach Thrasher is working on color matching some inside door handles. Two of mine are broken.

Love the Jeep so far and can't wait to finish the modifications.

Steve,

Welcome aboard;

Your Commander Pic is not showing up due to Photobucket heisting everybody for $400.00 a year for 3rd party image hosting now, so your free Photobucket account, will no longer support 3rd party image hosting - unless you pay the $400.00 a year ransom for their subscription;

You can upload your Commander pic here for free and they give you 3rd party image hosting at no extra charge:

Then you can post the pic of your XK here and we will be able to see it - and I want to see it, she sounds like a sweet ride.

Anytime, that a nice looking XK, I like that dark mineral gray is it? Nice color.

So what do you think your very first modification will be?

Already replace the plastic shield with a steel skid plate up front. Next will be the pinch weld and cut down the rear hitch so that a larger spare tire can fit. May start that this weekend. OME lift and tires as soon as my 1997 Cherokee sells. My go with a roof rack like you have. I will need to measure after the lift and tires to see if it will fit in my garage. Right now I have nine inches of clearance.

Sounds like a plan. Post some pics as you go.

I have a similar concern, where I only have about 2 inches or so of clearance getting in & out of my storage unit now, that's why I will probably never
get the 4 inch superlift; For the extra inch or so of lift I might gain, it will wind up costing me more money than it's worth.

Re: Alabama Commander

You have any updates Steve?

I just arrived back in Virginia today after being overseas for about 7 weeks.

The end of this week, I'm going to have my drivers side JBA UCA replaced, as well as having my 10 inch bazooka tube installed. I'm going to have a few maintenance items addressed as well - oil change, get the battery checked, the wheel bearings and all the grease fittings checked & filled if need be.

Then this weekend I'll install my new ROLA Vortex roof basket (just like the one I already have - this is just a new replacement).

Any updates or pics Steve?

I've had my Bazooka Tube installed, I replaced my roof rack, added the WeatherTech rear cargo liner
and hand repainted my WAM front bumper with Rustoleum Black Bed-liner paint. Here are some pics:
